Text Box: have trouble with Seton Hall if they are not on their game. Boston College finished Big East play with a 6-4-0 record. Although he recently returned, the early loss of Casey Schmidt was a big loss to the Boston College attack this year. Boston College andSt. John’s did not meet each other during the regular season. Last year Boston College won the 2001 Big East Tourney. It is unlikely that will happen this year. Look for the Eagles to play St. John’s close but the Red Storm should prevail in that match. Notre Dame has really played well of late and should be able to get by Georgetown but look for the going to get difficult for Bobby Clark’s Irishmen after that. Credit the Hokies from Virgina Tech for making it into the tourney in their first year of Big East play but they do not have the overall strength to defeat Connecticut on the road so look for the Hokies to make an early exit from the tourney. Upsets can occur as they did in 2000 but don’t be surprised this year to see St. John’s and Connecticut square off in the tourney championship game.

Analysis: George Mason defeated VCU 2-1 when they faced each other on November 9. VCU is 2-2-1 in conference action while George Mason is 2-3-0. James Madison has been playing very well. They have lost only one of their last six matches. The loss was a 2-1 overtime loss at Virginia. James Madison was 3-1-1 in conference action with their lone loss a 1-0 defeat at the hands of VCU. James Madison and Old Dominion tied 0-0 in overtime. William and Mary is 3-2-0 in conference play. Their two losses were to Old Dominion and James Madison. UNC-Wilmington has lost their last eight matches and don’t appear to be a likely candidate to make it to the final. The Seahawks have scored 18 but allowed 42. On paper it should be Old Dominion and James Madison in the championship game but any of the participants are capable of getting on a roll and taking it all.
