Big South Conference vs. Southern Conference - Furman from the Southern Conference defeats Radford from the Big South Conference 2-0.  Furman enters NCAA play with a record of 16-3-2.  They showed last year that they have the ability to advance in the NCAA Tournament as they defeated North Carolina and Wake Forest before losing a close one to Connecticut.  This is a new year and a new team but like last year, they play well as a team, they are very balanced, talented, and they know what it is like to play under the pressure of the one loss and you are out environment that goes with NCAA Tournament play.  The Paladin attack is led by John Barry Nusum who has scored 45 goals and recorded 32 assists over his three-year career.  Keeper Scott Blount has a 0.77 goals against average this season.  McNeil Cronin, Moffat Odour, Jack Handy, and Kenneth Penn round out a solid back line that has allowed only 17 goals this season.
